Suzanne was our SUPER cool sling making expert. She was such a crack up. The only downside was that it felt like we were working in a sweat shop...literally. I'm not going to lie, I had total pit by the time I was done.
I just realized I didn't get a picture of us all outside...bummer! Meagan's sister Wendi and her mom Judith also came.
I tried Ellie out in my sling this morning...apparently it isn't that fun when you can walk, who knew!!?
Thanks Amberly for setting this up, it was SO much fun!!
I just posted this so everyone could see that Ellie loves the sling I made...can't you tell? I made another one today at my Mom's house, and I had to pay her (not my Mom, Ellie) $1 just to get in it!!

Cute! I'm sad I missed it! So was it fairly easy to make?
Katy the domesticated... has a nice ring to it, don't you think?
Oh and I am so coming for the apron making!
oh my gosh...the action shot. NOT CUTE. that was seriously so much fun--i had a blast with you guys and can't wait to do it again. i am so proud of us--we were so stressed out and we actually made something that will hold a human! insane!
Woot! Woot! This is only a small sampling of our domestic skills, right? I can't wait to do it again!
Oh, and when you see these pictures on my blog please don't press charges for copyright infringement, okay?
Those look great! You guys are so creative! I wish I would have known how to make one and saved myself some money. I just bought one from www.lucky-baby.com
So now that you guys know how to do it, when is your teaching class...really! You guys are so cute and I am sad that I didn't make it but that just means that you get to teach it to the rest of us! They are all darling!
Meagan, I think you could counter sue saying that it was an unauthorized picture of you... :)
Oh, and Katie we decided get togethers will now be crafty get togethers...YAY!!
Carrie, it was super easy!!
And YAY for me, I made another one...I need to unpick it because I think I did the seam wrong. I needed to have Meagan and Wendi refresh my memory.
WHAT?? Crafty get togethers?? Umm--HIGHLY offended here! HIGHLY!! So much so we might not be sisters anymore!!! AND an apron making one??? That's IT!! We're breaking up!!!
ohhh, I love that you put Ellie in your sling! it was just way too cute.
I know what you mean about becoming "domesticated" - a few years ago I got the crazy idea to make Trent a quilt, and then 2 years ago Don got me my own sowing machine! UGH, now I feel the preasure! lol since then, I have sewn a few things, but I still will swear up and down that I do not sew!!!!!!!!
Katy- I don't know if you remember us from back in Logan, but is is us Aaron and Charee!! I just ran across your blog and ohh my heck, your little one isnt so little anymore. Last time I saw her she was 2 or 3 months old. She is beautiul.....but that is to be expected!! Hope that you and Dan are doing well. Take care!
Lyns, we are totally beginners, when we can be awesomely crafty like you, and when we can actually keep up with your craftiness...it'll be a par-tay!!
Camille, I just asked for a sewing machine for my bday, but I think I might back pedal a little...my Mom said she doesn't come with it, which means I would need to figure out how to thread the machine and the bobbin (is that what it is...not sure?)...I think that is a little TOO much responsibility for me!!
Katy, I love it and I need to make two of them. Could you let me know how you do it. We are coming to Utah for Brady's brothers wedding the first part of August so the boys will be so small still and I think this would be the perfect thing to tote them about. Maybe I'll call you today. You did an amazing job it is so cute. I think Brady will look very nice with a new sling to carry one of the babies in!
Well since Ellie won't get in it I guess that means you need a little one to put in it. Doesn't Ellie need another sibling??? Good job they look super cute.
Don't worry about sewing. I was scared before I sewed through my finger. Now that the worse thing that can happened, happened to me, it's not so bad. Definitely nothing to be afraid of.
Kristy...they are really easy. When you come out we can find the fabric you want and make them, or I could make you two...whatever you want to do. Call me.
Oh that is funny!!! You had to pay her!! I love the sling, and if I ever get pregnant again, you may have to make one for me!
elle looks really happy to be stuck in that sling. your so crafty. I hate sewing. I always have to pick and undo what i just sewed. hate it.
Marla, maybe by then I'll be REALLY good!!
Where are you guys taking the apron sewing class?
I'm so jealous of your sewing skills! I got a sewing machine for christmas & still have no idea how to use it...LOL!
Alright--where can I get this pattern, and how fast can I get it?! Our little guy is going to be making his first appearance any minute, and I feel he MUST have a sling this cute as soon as he takes his first breath! Well done! Also--forgive my ignorance, but is the book on your blog something you did yourself, or did you do it through a specific company? I love how it turned out!
Katy - I would love to know how to make one, too. Or tell me where you took the class and maybe I could sign up or something. :)
Ok, I've got my fabric and I'm going to give it a try--I'll be emailing in case I need expert advice ok?
Thanks for the inspiration! this baby will be here any minute and he needs (translation: I need) a cute sling pronto!
Carlie, I took the class in AF at the Quilting Cottage, it was only $12, and they have the CUTEST fabric. My mom said that if they had one in camo I should make one for Trent, but they were all out!!
Yeah - Camo would be good. I don't think I am going to be able to get him to wear one. But I might as well try! I don't think I want to throw two babies in one sling! I have heard it can be done, but they are going to get heavy quick! Hopefully that sewing store repeats classes or I'll have to have you show me how to do it sometime soon! :) We only have 4 more weeks!
Four more weeks!!? Seriously, that is SO exciting Carlie!! I can show you how to make one, it is pretty easy...
Katy . . . Let me know if you are free at all in the next two weeks. I'd love your help!! I'd love to make one! Actually, I'll probably need two! I'm sure I can get Trent to wear one!
